• Assistant Director

    Job Description General: Day-to-day operations of the Chamber / Membership, including recruitment, benefits, and payments / Event operations and management / Social media & Website management

    Membership retention & recruitment
    Maintain Membership database / Prepare Directory
    Develop strategies to produce membership revenue
    Review and implement ongoing membership benefit opportunities
    Meet with prospective & current members to develop mutual relationships
    Prepare updated, accurate membership information for Membership Directory
    Follow up on all membership inquiries: membership packets, follow-up emails & phone calls. Review with Executive Director and assist members with benefits, support, opportunities, etc.
    Maintain prospect list / conduct periodic membership drives
    Prepare timely reports on membership status for the Executive Director
    Prepare new member list for monthly Board meetings for ratification and newsletter
    Assist ED in membership value package approach

    Events
    Coordinate and organize member networking events (Coffee Connection & After Hours)
    Assist Executive Director in organizing larger Chamber events e.g. (Haunted Happenings Parade, Biz Baz vendor market, Salem’s So Sweet festival, political debates/forums, luncheons, Holiday Breakfast, Annual Dinner, etc.)
    Coordinate ribbon cuttings with Mayor’s office, Board, and membership

    Marketing & Sales
    Maintain and improve website
    Edit, produce and publish weekly e-mail newsletter using ConstantContact
    Create and maintain an active social media presence
    Advertising sales for membership directory & other sponsorship opportunities

    General
    Day to day operations
    Represent Chamber at functions and events
    Staff liaison for Chamber Ambassadors

    Requirements:
    Bachelor’s degree preferred
    Sales Experience and/or membership/association experience
    Customer service experience
    Creative & innovative
    Must be able to work effectively in a team environment
    Must be able to work a non-traditional schedule
    Must be able to stand or walk for extended periods
    Must be able to lift 35 pounds

    Salary & Benefits: 
    Annual Base salary range: $50,000-$60,000. Salary to be commensurate with experience.
    Benefits: Simple IRA (3% matching), Health (60%), Paid vacation (15 days), Sick Leave (5 days), Milage paid for trips outside of Salem.
