    2023 Salem Living Green Expo
    Saturday, May 13, 2023, from 10 am – 1 pm / Old Town Hall, 32 Derby Square, Salem, MA
     
    Lots of great North Shore businesses and community organizations shared their expertise, products, initiatives, and services that improve Salem, the North Shore and ultimately the whole planet. Attendees learned how to save money at theirr home or business while working towards a greener and more sustainable future.

    During the Living Green Expo, we had 3 different Exhibitor Talks upstairs with local experts on a variety of subjects!
     
    10:30AM - Offshore Wind (Crowley/Avangrid)
    Learn at what stage the development of the new Salem Wind Offshore Port is and have the opportunity to ask questions to the team of Crowley Wind Services, the new port operator. Crowley is a turnkey wind services provider, who leverage its marine assets, offshore and port operations expertise, logistics capabilities, and digital platforms to offer total lifecycle support and supply chain management solutions for logistics suppliers, offshore wind developers and original equipment manufacturers in the Wind Industry. Crowley has a Jones Act certified fleet of vessels and over 100 years of experience in advancing the success of energy providers.
     
    11:15AM - Community Farming & Food Forest / Styrofoam Ordinance
    City Councilor and local farmer Andy Varela will introduce you to the Mack Park Food Farm, a combination of a working municipal farm & a community food forest. Councilor Varela will also talk about the newly introduced Styrofoam ordinance and give you the highlights on when the ordinance will go into effect and what it means for businesses and residents alike.
     
    12:00PM Noon - Induction Cooking Demonstration
    Join Stacy Kilb (she/her), Salem’s Sustainability Engagement Coordinator, to learn about the magic of induction stoves. This half-hour demonstration will explore the differences, advantages, and disadvantages of cooking with gas, electric, and induction! You will have the opportunity to ask questions and even use a portable induction cooktop. Stacy works in Salem’s Sustainability and Resiliency Department. Her job is to make sure that both City Departments and residents of Salem are on a greener path.
