            • Seventeenth Century Saturdays at The House of the Seven Gables

On Saturday, June 4, visitors to The House of the Seven Gables will receive free garden passes as part of an Essex County-wide 17th-Century Saturdays celebration. Visitors are welcome to tour the grounds and visit the 1682 Hooper-Hathaway House. In addition, families can enjoy the popular Living History Lab program from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. As always, the Turner-Ingersoll-Mansion, also known as The House of the Seven Gables, will be open for guided tours with regular admission fees. Seventeenth Century Saturdays is part of a larger North of Boston Convention and Visitors Bureau program that encourages visitors to the region as well as residents to step back in time and explore Essex County?s extraordinary collection of homes, buildings and artifacts from America?s First Period (1625?1725). Those participating in 17th Century Saturdays will learn more about life in Essex Country during America?s first century as they explore the region?s architectural treasures. Seventeenth Century Saturdays are ongoing from June through October 2016 on the first Saturday of each month: June 4, July 2, August 6, September 3 and October 1. From July through October regular admission fees apply for tours and garden passes. The hours for 17th Century Saturdays at The Gables are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. The House of the Seven Gables is located at 115 Derby St., Salem, Mass. For more information, those interested may call 978-744-0991 or visit the website at www.7gables.org. Parking is available and Salem residents are admitted free of charge.
