Christmas in Salem Historic House Tour

Now in its 47^th year, Christmas in Salem Holiday House Tour is a holiday tradition!  Held the first weekend in December, thousands of guests will come to tour homes and public spaces decked out for the holiday.
 
This year, Christmas in Salem is themed “Seas & Greetings” which highlights the location of this year’s tour: the Derby Street Neighborhood.  First laid out in 1762, by 1790 when it was our nation’s 8^th largest city, this neighborhood was home to much of Salem’s population.  Eight historic homes will be on view along with some of Salem’s cherished historic public spaces including the Custom House and the Derby House.  This year’s tour will be headquartered at The House of the Seven Gables where tour goers will be invited to enter the Hooper Hathaway House and the birthplace of Nathaniel Hawthorne.  The Turner-Ingersol mansion, that inspired Nathaniel Hawthorne’s novel, The House of the Seven Gables, can be viewed for a small additional fee.
