            • Architectural August: A Tale of Two Mansions

SALEM — Sometimes, being ancient is a good thing. The 1668 Turner-Ingersoll Mansion — a k a the House of the Seven Gables — in Salem, and Marblehead’s 1768 Jeremiah Lee Mansion share a significant anniversary this year. The Gables is 350 years old and the Jeremiah Lee Mansion is 250. Both grand and stately mansions — iconic examples of superlative historic architecture in this country — have much to celebrate. All are invited to a host of events in Salem and Marblehead throughout the month of August. Architecture buffs, history enthusiasts and anyone who enjoys a good story are more than welcome to take part in events that bring into stark relief the difference 100 years makes in architectural style and construction.
