On Thursday, June 6th from 6:30-8pm at the Winter Island Function Hall in Salem, see, touch and learn about marine bio-invaders at this hands-on session sponsored by Salem Sound Coastwatch (SSCW). Sea squirts, Asian shore crabs and European rock shrimp are a few of the species from across the globe that can be found in tidepools, on floating docks and along the rocky shoreline of Salem Sound. At this session, Barbara Warren, SSCW Executive Director, will give an orientation to these sea creatures and talk about what we have learned over the years. Following the presentation, those who are interested can explore a Winter Island tidepool with SSCW staff. This is a child-friendly event. Free and open to the public. For the tidepool visit, wear shoes that can get wet and are suitable for walking on rocks. RSVP requested (not required). Contact SSCW at info@salemsound.org or 978-741-7900. Free admission to the park for workshop.
