About Offshore Wind in the U.S.
With over 30 years of operational history in Europe and the United Kingdom, the offshore wind industry has become a well-established source of clean energy. In the United States, 310 megawatts (MW) of offshore wind is currently in operation, with additional capacity coming online each year. New projects signal significant growth in the U.S. offshore wind sector. With substantial investments already made in U.S. based projects, the country is progressing towards its goal of having 45 gigawatts (GW) of offshore wind in operation by 2045, which is projected to supply electricity to approximately 13.5 million homes and small businesses.
