SUMMARY:Test-A-Tour at The House of Seven Gables
DESCRIPTION:The House of the Seven Gables may be old but the way it's presented to visitors is anything but. Museums like The Gables use the newest techniques in interpretation and storytelling to help visitors learn and comprehend what they see. Staff at The Gables have been in the process of planning a refreshed tour experience to kick off the new decade. "We've spent the last year updating how we share our stories at The House of the Seven Gables\," says Kara McLaughlin\, the Museum's executive director. "And we're almost ready to reveal a unique guided-tour experience." The next step is to test the tour with Gables' members followed by the general public. The first opportunities to experience the new tour are Friday\, January 17 from 2 to 3 p.m. and from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. These two one-hour tours are for Gables' members exclusively. The 'test-a-tour' process continues over the weekend of January 18 and 19\, from 10 to 11 a.m. and from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.\, when the public as well as members are welcome to take a tour and offer their thoughts. Any visitor who has taken a house tour within the last five years is invited to take a 'beta tour' and assess their experience. "Members are welcome to be the first to check out the tour and share their feedback with our staff\," says Julie Arrison-Bishop\, the Museum's director of community engagement.
