SUMMARY:Ben Gross | Underlying Meanings\; Sabbatical Exhibition
DESCRIPTION:The exhibition is on view in The Winfisky Gallery\, February 7- March 4\, Monday through Friday from 10am-4 pm. The gallery is located on the ground floor of the Ellison Campus Center. Benjamin Gross\, a professor in the Art and Design Department at Salem State University in Salem\, Massachusetts\, earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the University of Delaware and a Master of Fine Arts from Cranbrook Academy of Art. His work has been exhibited in regional\, national\, and international exhibitions. He is member of the Boston Printmakers.\n\n\n\n"'Underlying Meanings' is a series of 12 editions of prints. Each serigraph incorporates hand drawn transparencies\, hole punch registry and hand printed image formulations. "Underlying Meanings" is a combination of abstract compositions that use color theory (primary / secondary colors) to create the illusion of transparency and color mixing. The non-objective compositions illustrate how humans perceive color and the visual effects of how overlapping colors mix\, balance or contrast with each other. For instance\, my "Well Rounded" serigraph incorporates the literal definition of integrating a smooth and or curved shape. But it also conveys secondary and tertiary translations of being pleasurably varied and balanced."\n\nAdditional exhibition events:\n\nArtist Talk: Wednesday\, February 9\, 12:30 PM via Zoom\n\nReception: Wednesday\, February 9\, 1:30 3:00 PM.\n\nEvening reception: Wednesday\, February 16\, 6:30 8:00 PM.
